    Preparing for an Interview

Now that you have landed an interview through our MakeYourMove portal, it is up to you to make a powerful and positive first impression and stand out among other candidates.

Here are 4 tips on how you can effectively prepare for your interview.

    1. Do your research

It is important to show that you understand the Company beyond the basics. Find out what major projects it has completed, or what the company culture and values are. Additionally, make sure that you go over the job description and your application to jog your memory on how your skills and qualities align with what they are looking for. This will help you pitch why they should choose you over other candidates.

    2. Answer common interview questions

While you will not be able to predict every interview question you will be asked, there are some common ones you can plan answers for. Make sure that you are honest, and that you tie your answers to the job role, and how you will contribute to organizational success.

    3. Practice interview etiquette

Your behavior makes a lasting impression, so ensure that you are mindful of what you do, how you do it, and what you say. Pay attention to your body language, make eye contact and be attentive. Remember that the employees in the organization may be your future colleagues, so make a point to greet them, as well as your interviewer politely and pleasantly.

    4. Make prior arrangements

A late candidate is a red flag for any interview or any organization. So that you are on time (or even a few minutes earlier), prepare beforehand. This includes deciding on what you will wear, and making sure it is professional, and in good condition, gathering your interview essentials including any documents, your printed out resume, a notepad, etc. and figuring out the exact location of the interview and how you plan on getting there in time.

At MakeYourMove, we are dedicated to lead you towards success, and fulfilling your career ambitions. Follow these tips to take the matter in your own hands during your interview and impress your employer.
