Job Description

Collaborate with the Electrical Supervisor/HOD and production departments to promptly resolve electrical and instrumentation issues.
Identify and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems within the factory during your shift.
Ensure the proper functioning of electrical lighting systems in the factory, offices, and residential areas.
Safeguard all electrical and instrumentation equipment in the factory, including motors, VFDs, pumps, cables, panels, and related accessories.
Follow the preventive maintenance schedule as instructed by the Supervisor/HOD, and regularly update checklists and relevant documents.
Manage immediate power changeovers during power failures, informing the concerned departments before executing the changeover.
Monitor the functioning of electrical safety equipment such as electric fences, cameras, and firefighting systems.
Perform daily checks on DG sets, including battery status, engine oil levels, water levels, fuel availability, and inspecting for any leaks near the DG sets.
Notify the concerned team regarding diesel shortages and supervise the refueling of DG set fuel tanks.
Start and stop DG sets during power failures and supervise their operation.
Maintain log sheets for DG set running hours and fuel consumption.
Take daily TANESCO meter readings and regularly monitor electrical loads.
Adhere to the annual maintenance plan as instructed by the Supervisor/HOD.
Report any electrical or instrumentation problems to the Supervisor/HOD immediately.
Ensure that the work area around electrical equipment is clean, safe, and free from hazards.
Collaborate with other shift electricians and supervisors, maintaining a shift logbook for continuity.
Provide feedback to the Supervisor/HOD on the status of assigned work.
Ensure all pending work is handed over to the incoming shift electrician at the end of your shift.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/HOD or management.
