Job Description

  • Prepare and install molds in production machines—such as injection molding or blow molding equipment—according to specifications. Ensure proper alignment, calibration, and secure placement, adhering to all safety standards and operating procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on molds to prevent breakdowns and maintain optimal performance. This includes cleaning cavities, lubricating slides and ejector pins, inspecting cooling channels, and checking electrical and hydraulic connections.
  • Troubleshoot mold-related issues and carry out necessary repairs or adjustments. For minor surface defects, use fine-grit tools or suitable fillers; for significant damage, disassemble and replace components before reassembling and testing molds.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all maintenance activities and repairs. Use log cards or records to track usage, cleaning, lubrication, wear, and any corrective actions taken.
  • Inspect molds regularly for wear and damage. Use precision measurement tools to identify signs of abrasion, corrosion, misalignment, or worn ejector pins, and report findings to the supervisor.
  • Manage and maintain tooling inventory, including spare parts and components. Store molds in a clean, dry environment, apply rust inhibitors before long-term storage, and ensure parts are accessible and organized .
  • Assist in fabricating or modifying molds when required. Follow manufacturer specifications during installation or modification, including adjustments to components like side cores and guide pins.
  • Keep the machine and surrounding work area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Comply with safety protocols, use appropriate PPE (such as gloves, safety glasses, protective clothing, and heat-resistant gear), and ensure guards, interlocks, and emergency stops are functioning .
